Dead to me

Hello, I'm just popping in to say that I never use this blog anymore. If you're interested in seeing some current work you check me out on tumblr!

The Wrong Guy

THE WRONG GUY(and Hecubus)

Evidence that I am indeed drawing still(albeit not nearly as often as I would like).  I re-watched "The Wrong Guy" recently and it caused my Dave Foley love to bubble up and pour all over this helpless piece of paper.  It turned out somewhat lifeless but I don't hold a grudge.

Feelin' Frisket-y!

I painted this yesterday to test out using "friskets" for the first time. I'm happy with the colours but can see that I need to practice clouds next.

Testing the Waters

I just started teaching myself water colours about two weeks ago now. Please note this is a photograph taken just before the camera died of the actual painting..and then touched up a teensy bit in photoshop, so it's quite different from the original. For example her hair is much more of a soft, rosey pink.
My lessons are basically drinking a lot of coffee and just watching as many random Youtube videos I can find.  Hopefully I will be able to make some really nice backgrounds relatively soon.

So close I can SMELL it!

Hi! Here's a BG idea I've been working on for "Home Town".  The colours look a bit different here than they do on my Cintiq.  The original is slightly warmer with subtler contrasts.  Ugh and that yellow in the tractor is not nearly so limey and pukey.  I think there is something I can do in photoshop to prevent this that I will look into. I also think I need to make the line colours on the sign and tractor something other than fact the tractor just kind of sucks altogether, haha.
Right now we are experimenting with different looks but this is pretty much what we are shooting for (for this scene anyways). We will likely have varying looks per episode depending on what mood we are in. Hope you like it! Thanks!

Didge-oo Kit-chee Da Coyoot??

Dad circa the age my brothers discovered swearing is fun.
This is the first thing I made with my new Cintiq.  I was so excited when it came in the mail and imagined my dad must have felt similarly when he got his first chainsaw or his first work horse which is what inspired this drawing. It's the small 12wx screen but it does the trick.  As you can see there is some fairly wobbly lines, especially near the bottom and it's because the cursor starts to shake when the pen is at too much of an angle.  I'll start getting the swing of it though.

Preston Blair Studies

Hello all you happy people!  Here are some Preston Blair studies I've done.  I can see I need a lot of improvement yet, but I can feel myself getting better at drawing with each study I do.  For any aspiring young animator I really suggest doing these studies. I also suggest visiting John K's blog which is what inspired me to do these studies in the first place..and well basically taught me everything I needed to know to get me to this point.  If I didn't learn it from his blog directly I learned it from a link he provided or any number of chain research thereafter.  It really is a fantastic resource and I send my virtual thanks!

More studies to come.
